The crew of 702.tv, the hot weekly television program showcasing all things Vegas, recently had the chance to take part in a special Supercar Life event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Emily Gimmel, the show’s entertainment reporter, has the scoop and features Supercar Life pros Ross Thompson and Kelly Collins.

Blasting into a set of s-curves, I’m watching raised curbs appear on each side of the Aston Martin. Sure enough…whump…we hit the one on the right, followed by a…whump on the left side.

2009 will see Christophe Bouchut mainly in action on the American continent. Although he will maintain one foot in Europe thanks to the Le Mans Series, most of his time will be spent in the United States, with a season of motorsport that looks to be both exciting and full of success.

Dream driving program Supercar Life has joined the exciting world of Grand Am racing by becoming title sponsor of one of the biggest race weekends of the year. The Supercar Life 250, part of the Rolex Grand Am series, happens at the new New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ August 29-31.

In Fontana, California, at the Auto Club Speedway getting a taste of what it’s like to race half-million dollar cars.

The experience is called “Supercar Life,” and for a little under $6000, you can drive a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porshe, Aston Martin and Mercedes AMG at speeds you’ve never felt before. It’s an all day clinic for only about a dozen people, taught by pro race-car drivers.

We spent a day at the track and got to live the Supercar Life ourselves.

With 507 horsepower, the deceptively powerful CLK63 AMG Black Series is considered the ultimate Mercedes Benz, with some calling it the “ultimate European car.“

I tear down california speedway’s front straightaway at 130 mph in a canary-yellow Lamborghini Gallardo, two car lengths behind another Gallardo’s screaming exhaust pipes—twenty cylinders’ worth of raucousness reverberating against concrete. A few pulse-quickening beats later, I react to the leading car’s glowing red lights and jam on my carbon-ceramic brakes to slow for a chicane.

One of the great things about covering the auto beat is seeing the passion people have for cars, trucks, going fast, customizing their rides, etc. I always tell people, "if you wanna see passion in motion, spend a few days tracking people who love their cars."
